KWPN Studbook
The MWR KWPN Studbook holds inspections throughout the year for both stallions, mares and their offspring. Inspections of mares and stallions are open when they have turned three years old. Older horses may also be presented for inspection and admission into the Studbook.
This Studbook requires:
* a realistic pedigree. Any and all submissions that do not have a pedigree or whose pedigree is not realistically possible will be rejected.
* realistic colors on horses
In addition to this, the KWPN has naming guidelines which we prefer you follow. However, this is not obligatory. A list of naming guidelines can be found here.
For the KWPN studbook, there are 2 subdivisions for registration: horses with real horse pedigrees, and those with model pedigrees.
Group 1: horses with real horse pedigrees
This group of horses has real parents. This means that they are direct descendants of real horses. Both sire and dam must have been available for breeding in the year that your horse was 'born'.
Both sire and dam must be subjected to inspection by the Registrar, who will check if it was realistically possible for the sire and dam to have produced a foal in the assigned year.
Your horse will have to undergo a pedigree check and a conformation test before being accepted into the Studbook.
Group 2: horses with a model pedigree
This group has parents which are model horses. The lines must trace back to real horses for realistic purposes. If the sire and dam of your horse have already been accepted into a MWR Studbook your horse will automatically be accepted into the Studbook as well. If the sire and dam of your horse are not yet registered into a MWR Studbook, your horse will have to undergo a pedigree check and a conformation test.
